Following in the Footsteps of the Doomstead Diner

The Diner moved from Global Collapse and can now be found here:

https://chasingthesquirrel.com/doomstead/index.php     <=====

Well, here we are now in the Roaring 2020s with Global Collapse in full swing and the old crowd of Doomers from the Diner mostly dispersed and all aging up and inexorably heading to the Great Beyond.

Since morphing into a nursing home gomer I have lost interest in about everything, I don't even bother to check the headlines on Google Newz anymore most of the time.  I have also pretty much run out of movies & TV series to watch on Amazon Prime.  I sit in a cripple person recliner all day with my eyes closed trying to get myself disembodied so my mind can travel through time and live other lives in other places.  I run into all sorts of time paradoxes though since I am still alive.  I think this can only work right if your body is completely dead, not just half dead like mine.

I finally got my Medicaid assessment and should hopefully find out what kind of assistance I can get and maybe get out of my prison here in a month or two.  Tons of logistical problems though because I have no friends here to help me.  Anybody wanna visit Alaska for a week to help me get re-situated?

I do remain amazed at how long the fake economy keeps chugging along.  I don't think anyone who lives in my old apt complex pays rent anymore.  My old apt is still empty there and the place is "owned" by some new management company.

Anyhow, join up here and drop a note here to tell us all how you are doing.

Hi RE, nice to see you are doing some posting. It's hard to think of doom these days for me. New house under construction, new partner, girls doing at home schooling with our 3rd shutdown now. Hope some of the posters migrate.
Cheers,  NF

Hi RE, I'm saddened at your plight, I hope good things for you, whatever you deem as good.

We're back in SW MO after a house flipping tour of the west coast these last 6 years to raise a little cash. Huddled up in a small town deep in red team territory now. We're on a 1/2ac town lot, big garden, a few chicks, some trees and small fruit. Missouri is about as far from built up as one can imagine in the US, so on the theory that it's better to collapse from a small height that a great one we're golden.

I've been reading some Turchin lately. Secular Cycles is along the lines of Strauss–Howe generational theory, but incorporating Malthus carrying capacity overshoot and maybe some closet marxism to boot. His hobby horse is "elite overproduction" or, to you and me, "not enough "rich" to go around" — even with wealth inequality growing by the day.

Upshot is not the Illuminaughty and the Great Reset enslaving the proles—they already did that — but the elites going toe to toe with each other which will be the cause of the collapse.

Peace to you
.

I want to read that, as it's exactly my own suspicion. There is no rebellion of the sheeple as long as they eat, however when we are fully shaken down, they can't equitably settle for their distribution of the spoils and must needs try get the jump on each other

And without a rebellion this happens:

The number is 42.  If America rhymes with Matthews Island.  The number of people making it through the bottleneck will be comparable to the surviving population in the book:

It will be loincloth time.

Medicaid Approved
« Reply #6 on: April 23, 2021, 10:11:59 pm »
I have now been approved by AK Medicaid for long term care and so now should be able to get the prosthetic paid for, among other things.  Also on the agenda is to get into my own place with my own home cripple helpers.  Hopefully get my prostate operation this month also and get rid of the catheter.

Great that AK Medicaid is finally giving you a leg up.  And about time.  How many goats had to die for them to arrive at this genius decision.

Hey RE

For the last year or so I've been checking in at the Diner semi-regularly to see how you and the other folks were doing, though I did not participate much.  I was sorry to read that your health suffered a downturn.

It seems now that things will improve a bit for you and that is good.  If I were anywhere within driving distance I'd take you out for a ride in the country.

You need to stay with us for a while - your voice is needed.

Newz from the front is I made my application to an independent living complex in Palmer and hope to make the transition over there in June.  The logistics are complicated as everything has to time out perfectly and I cannot move about freely on my own yet to prepare for the move.  Also funds are extremely tight since I had to bankrupt myself to get on Medicaid.

The Senior Apt complex is called Whispering Winds.  https://whisperingwinds.pwapt.com/index.php

As you can see, it has Solar PV panels on the roof.  :)  You can read about the amenities and see more pics at the website.

My prostate operation is set for May 19th.  Still no progress on the fake leg though. :(

What has happened to the Doomsteaddiner.net site? It appears to have dropped off the DNS.
Does the server / data exist still in any viable form, besides way-back machine, which has an entry for some time earlier this year?
It was said to see RE declining in mobility. I traced your alias to this forum, and it is nice to read the unique conversation style was still going.
I kind of hoped some one else would keep up the site.

When I went into the Assisted Living Gulag I had no money to keep the site active.   Nobody volunteered to pony up the money to keep it live.  It is still on the server of course, but it will cost some money to reactivate it.

I rent 2 linux servers hosted on linode.com , which have been bleeding my funds a little bit. Not as much as the various NGO and charity causes I support until the money runs out in a number of years. Hosting an extra account costs me no extra.  The bandwidth allowance is generous, the RAM is 4GB, hardisk storage total 80GB.

I don't actually earn anything, its from retirement savings. They host run a few low volume websites, eg https://parracan.org. (Parramatta Climate Action Network).
My retirement hobby is maintaining the servers, writing the scripts, updating the PHP framework, and thereby being free to feel useful.

They are setup as ISPCONFIG, so client accounts can be set up for access.

So what I would need is the last database, image and scripts backup.
