Can we have it forthwith that any accusations of someone saying for example Tonga would disappear or a peak equalling an instant apocalypse, be backed by a direct quote. Call it the April fools Day nobody's fool rule

What say you RE?[/b]

Seems like a good rule to me.

RE

Figure out how to say this the right way and we can put it into a code of conduct in the registration agreement.  The new place of course, since we can't alter the registration agreement here.

'Members shall not accuse each other of backpedaling on previous statements without showing a quote documenting the previous statement.   ?

That's fine.

A bizzy year beginning in Tornado Alley.  So far about double the seasonal average.

Power outages in tens of thousands, widespread damage reported from Arkansas tornado

RE

Someone will say that tornadoes have been around forever and climate change has nothing to do with, an increased stochastic propensity.  ****.

Also. it's not collapse because 25% of the population didn't die and they're going to rebuild the town.

FG, I spent close to a decade arguing with MKing's solipsistic POV on collapse,  I certainly will not repeat that exercise with you.

Reading the discussion the thought comes that we should remind ourselves collapse is real.

Except for FG it's not real. It doesn't meet her definition of collapse because it's not happening fast enough for her and not enough people have died yet.  Never mind that by her standards the Great Depression wasn't a collapse and neither was WWII.  Hell, the collapse of the Roman Empire wasn't a collapse.  She practices the same form of Denial as MKing and uses the same rhetorical tricks.  Ho Hum.

As far as Industrial Civilization is concerned, Collapse has always been inevitable.  Really Homo Sap has been on a collision course with collapse since the development of agriculture.  The only variables are the timeline and the trajectory the collapse takes.  Don't worry though, if it goes slow enough you can convince yourself it's not collapse.

No worries.  As long as 25% pf the lights are on, it's not collapse.

Don't worry, it's not collapse unless 25% of the population dies.

Whose lifetime?  Mine?  NF? Cam? The 10yo I play chess with?  How bad does it have to get to meet your criteria for collapse?  I don't consider this important anymore.  Just the trajectory, not the timeline.  I predict things will continue to get worse, not better.

I think of collapse like an overcast day.  It might not be raining in the morning, but you should still bring an umbrella.
RE

Sure. And sunscreen. You never know which way the weather will go either.

Sunscreen is unlikely to be necessary on an overcast day with thunder and lightening on the horizon.  Go short on Sunshine.

RE

Well, now that you've added additional conditions in, my modified original answer would then be, "Sure. Good thing the wind is taking it all out to sea. Now...where is that sunscreen?"

Glad to hear you are at least up and about enough to still find folks to play chess with. They take you out anywhere just to get out of the building on occasion?

Was in Springfield MO this morning. Reminded me of your custom stone. That thing is cool. Any way to get some of those pictures of its build and install on this site from the old one?

I don't see the wind taking the overcast offshore.  Or it's likr CA, with a new atmospheric river following the last one every couple of weeks.

Thursdays our Activities director takes folks who sign up on trips in our Cripple Bus, which takes up to 3 EV wheelchairs.  Usual destinations are Fred Meyer, Walmart or a Mall Food Court, sometimes a Museum.

As an aside, how are you doing? With the amount of money you mentioned required for your care, is it as outstanding as the price tag?

As Nursing Care facilities go, it's well run with a decent staff.  The price is insane though.

Any opportunity to do some of the things you like, play chess, argue with something about an interesting topic, to wile away the hours?

I play Chess against several of the staff members.  Only one guy on the kitchen staff is any good.  Unfortunately he has little time to play.  I also recently played against the great grandson of one of the residents.  10 y/o, not very good but I did some teaching so that was fun.  I haven't found any residents who can play or who are interested and/or able to learn.
