WHO warns Omicron could overwhelm health systems as cases rise to record highs in Europe

When architects-- the good ones-- design a building, their designs consider and integrate appropriate responses to 'local elements', even if some of the elements are 'only' one-in-hundred year events.

So why should hospitals be any different, such as in designing for once-in-a-hundred year pandemics?

One part-answer; probably because governments are not anarchistic and so we get limited and potentially-problematic results.

General Discussion / K-Dog & The Collapse Cliques
« on: December 29, 2021, 11:04:34 am »
In my online forays, I inevitably occasion upon the same individuals at various sites. I mean, let's face it, energy depletion and collapse sorts of subjects are going to attract certain individuals that get around to the sites on those subjects that are out there.

K-Dog is one of them, complete with the logo which looks like a Chow breed or something like that.

But I'm trying to recall exactly which sites. Kunstler's and McPherson's seem to come to mind, but I'm unsure. Maybe Resilience too. I've caught RE over at the defunct Oil Drum many years back, now that I think about it.

Futilitist also got around-- 'Doomstead Diner', 'The Oil Drum', 'Peak Oil Barrel', and 'Peak Oil'--  but seems to have fizzled out. But I guess if you get kicked off enough particular sites, your clique options necessarily diminish. Also, if you're somehow 'unstable' (so to speak) enough to get kicked off enough sites, then maybe it catches up to you and/or takes care of itself where being on those sites doesn't matter to you as much or anymore anyway, such as where you might have to deal with your 'issues'.

I also run into Joe Clarkson, too, on a few of them, one of which, if recalled, being Tim Morgan's Surplus Energy Economics. Anyone go there?

Myself, I recently narrowly escaped 'Peak Oil Barrel' intact when my challenging of the covid and its vaccine 'narratives' probably became too much for Ron Patterson who used to own the site but still had backdoor access.
At one point, Ron deleted my comment, but in his own comment about it, he included only part of my comment, so out of context and misleading. He also mischaracterized me as an anti-vaxxer to boot.

So Ron kind of lost part of his mind on that one and it was time to go for good before he made the decision for me. I was already half out the door anyway and the conversations were becoming repetitive and circular.

Anyone else losing their minds these days? I mean besides WRT your boredom, RE.

Speaking of which, did anyone hear about this semi-famous relatively-maskless woman on a plane get into a fit about a man not wearing a mask while eating? So she punched or slapped and spit on him and now she's got a legal case or 2 to contend with, along with other unrelated cases.

RE, when you finally end your sword-fighting with the grim reaper using his inappropriate scythe, you may at least feel good with the knowledge that you're leaving a species that's slowly losing its s h i t...

See, this system can't even let me spell s h i t properly, because, you know, we're all kids or shivery-frightened and offended (hoo, ha, oo, oh) of some words, so we need some kind of automata to take care of it for the ones that need it even though there are other ways-- like placing spaces-- to spell it anyway.

BTW, I go by the handle, 'The Man They Call Zazelle' at Kunstler.

General Discussion / Advanced Newbie?

How do I change my title under my nickname to Advanced Newbie. I think it's more accurate than just Newbie.

General Discussion / Hawking Radiation
« on: December 29, 2021, 10:48:49 am »
Steven Hawking was a hoaxter. I wrote the damn information sheet on Motor Neurone Disease for the Neurological Centre in the 90s and saw the sufferers. They were all deteriorating and dying. When was Hawking first famous, 80s  or 90s? It doesn't matter, he died only a few years ago and whether he claimed to have had 20, 25, or 30 years with MND its bullshit. Just 15 would be extremely lucky. Whatever condition he had was not MND, because nobody survives that long.

He survived longer than usual maybe because he was able to tap into the universal mind which transcended a little bit the limitations of his physical self.

...Well, you never know...

What's cool 8) about Hawking, if I have this aspect correct, is Hawking Radiation, because it seems to function as a kind of uniter/connector of one universe to another and therefore represents infinity. This is assuming that many if not most black holes are and/or contain a universe.

The importance of infinity to me is about free will versus determinism. If we have infinity, then it effectively breaks absolute determinism, and therefore we are free individuals by virtue of the possible fact that we exist in infinity and therefore infinite variables act upon us to render our actions and thoughts,

General Discussion / Where Does The Big Sleep Go?
« on: December 29, 2021, 10:36:45 am »
What's cool about 'the big sleep' is that it might take us to the end of our universe 'just like that', in the blink of a relative eye, and then we wake up again in a new one, maybe from 'soil' of the old...

So all that time-- quadrillions of years or way more, after black holes and neutron stars and white dwarfs and all those other strange relics finally disappear into non-existence-- gets infinitely-shrunk relative to our current experience into a kind of soul singularity and we do it all over again as consciousness slows time down for us again.

Maybe we come back as a bird or a bug that gets squashed almost immediately after birth.

Maybe RE's soul returns as some kind of short and very muscular and thick-boned creature on a planet with much more gravity than our current Earth. Maybe he has 8 legs and can afford to lose 4, who knows. Maybe he's able to fly or glide in the planet's thick and dense atmosphere.

Hey RE, there are a lot of tunes where you don't have to mod the lyrics and we can dispense with some of the cheese to boot.

"Death misery and tears
Calculated waves of fear
Drawn up by think tanks
There's a darkness in the west

Oil swilling
Guzzling corporates
Central banking
Mind-fü˘king omnipotence..."

Wow, ya, 'Convoy', back when anything was possible and the future, rosy... tacky, shitty...

"So we crashed the gate doing ninety-eight
I says 'Let them truckers roll, 10-4'... "

LOL

Remember 'The Gumball Rally'?

Was it Leary who they busted out of jail?

What kind of news sources do we read/watch and are any of them neo mainstream, as opposed to legacy mainstream?
