Please dispute the data. I could do with some good news.

Questions:
1. When do you think we will have an ice free arctic, if at all?
2. If so, do you think it will cause any problems, or just improved shipping lanes so we can buy more plastic junk from China?

It is indeed fantastic news that we still have ice in the arctic, and we should celebrate thet fact that that prediction is wrong, if perhaps only for a short time.
I hope it continues for a very long time, perhaps due to some unforseen negative feedback loop, but hope is not reality.

Recurring wrong timeframes are not reality either, but saying so seems like saying a baby is ugly. To answer your question, we can do what Carana did in 2012 and use the current year only to project out, that would buy some extra  time.

What unforseen negative feedback loops might have happened this year? Uneducated guesses here on possibilities; Solar minimum, astral/orbital timeframe for mini ice age, almost 2 years of grounded passenger planes, no tourism, less commuting, less production. Overall less pollution.

Going forward, 4IR and great reset are supposed to save the planet and enough oil for who and what is deemed important. It isn't 10bn people, or even 8.

Galveston got a lot of rain. Sixty mph winds. Lots of power out. They call that a glancing blow. Galveston has always been hurricane central. Worse than NOLA.

I’ve been thinking about buying a lot where some houses got torn down after Harvey. Down in Ingleside, if I can figure out how to pay for it. Good place to finally park a future sailboat. My tractor is almost paid for. Time flies.

If you buy the boat, I might visit with the new leg.  Tested it out today. The Prosthetologist (no, not Proctologist) was amazed.  He said he never saw anyone able to walk on one as soon as it was on.  No practice, no Physical Therapy.  I had a cane, but I didn't really need it, just for security.  I tried stepping up, no problem so I can get in and out of my van, or down the ladder into a boat cabin.   Good balance, gymnastics pays off. lol.  I think I probably could ride  a motorcycle again too! 

Still needs work, I just used a test socket today.  3 more weeks to wait for a finished socket, then some further tweaks.  Not real comfy, but better than hopping around on one leg and being on wheels all the time.

That is great news.  If you were not a committed monist and now you are mobile again, you could figure out how to use it as a chick magnet. You would not even need the dog.

After my TURP operation, I will also need a Bionic P*enis.

Many people who've been around the climate change universe for a while are taking a different tone with this conference.  There is no optimism.  It's desperation time.  Yet, oblivious to the hypocrisy, the enormous energy footprint of the conference, the happy faces are out among the 1%.  I assume the whiff of profit driven exploitation is in the air.

This from Albert Bates' column yesterday.  Albert has been in the trenches for a long time.  I know some of his attempts at optimism have bothered RE over the years.  He has moved the ball forward on Permaculture - teaching where it counts, in some poor counties among those in need.  He has really helped people understand the value of biochar.

Why would anyone be optimistic?  There will be agreements and earnest-appearing politicians who sign them only to fly home and forget about the damn thing except for using the conference as fodder for re-election.  It's too late - baked in - to use a bad pun.
