I think of collapse like an overcast day.  It might not be raining in the morning, but you should still bring an umbrella.
RE

Sure. And sunscreen. You never know which way the weather will go either.

Sunscreen is unlikely to be necessary on an overcast day with thunder and lightening on the horizon.  Go short on Sunshine.

RE

Well, now that you've added additional conditions in, my modified original answer would then be, "Sure. Good thing the wind is taking it all out to sea. Now...where is that sunscreen?"

Glad to hear you are at least up and about enough to still find folks to play chess with. They take you out anywhere just to get out of the building on occasion?

Was in Springfield MO this morning. Reminded me of your custom stone. That thing is cool. Any way to get some of those pictures of its build and install on this site from the old one?

I don't see the wind taking the overcast offshore.  Or it's likr CA, with a new atmospheric river following the last one every couple of weeks.

Thursdays our Activities director takes folks who sign up on trips in our Cripple Bus, which takes up to 3 EV wheelchairs.  Usual destinations are Fred Meyer, Walmart or a Mall Food Court, sometimes a Museum.

Vids are up still on the Diner You Tube channel about the Tombstone, https://www.youtube.com/@DoomsteadDiner

Bank Collapse makes a comeback!

https://www.economist.com/finance-and-economics/2023/03/10/what-does-silicon-valley-banks-collapse-mean-for-the-financial-system

What does Silicon Valley Bank’s collapse mean for the financial system?

RE
From what I gather, Silly Con Valley Bank was assassinated like Lehman Brothers. It was a pawn sacrificed in the great game for reasons not readily apparent.

Do you mean that all the depositors who made the run on it coordinated their withdrawals in some way? Like on Facebook or something?

Even without FB, word of mouth travels fast in a bank run.  Social Media probably speeds things up further.

RE

It is what happens at the end of growth.  Other explanations are mental ****.

As an aside, how are you doing? With the amount of money you mentioned required for your care, is it as outstanding as the price tag?

As Nursing Care facilities go, it's well run with a decent staff.  The price is insane though.

Any opportunity to do some of the things you like, play chess, argue with something about an interesting topic, to wile away the hours?

I play Chess against several of the staff members.  Only one guy on the kitchen staff is any good.  Unfortunately he has little time to play.  I also recently played against the great grandson of one of the residents.  10 y/o, not very good but I did some teaching so that was fun.  I haven't found any residents who can play or who are interested and/or able to learn.

This whole argument is just an MKing replay.  "Don't worry, Be Happy", it;s not Collapse.  As long as we still have Ice in our Margueritas, it;s not Collapse.  And so forth.
RE

It struck me that I was agreeing with Monsta, and he wasn't saying anything along the lines of "don't worry be happy". Only that puffing up economic uncertainty into collapse seems a bit of a cheapening of the term "collapse".
